057 Mr. Fox, My brother is a very selfish man फाक्स महोदय ! मेरा भाई अत्यंत स्वार्धी है। ఫాక్స్ గారూ, నా సోదరుడు చాలా స్వార్ధ పరుడు.

Swami Vivekananda considered relatives as deadly clogs to one's progress. He wrote to Ms. Marie Halboister from Almora on July 25, 1897. At some other places, he showed some feelings of love towards his mother.

"... I wish I had nobody to love, and I were an orphan in my childhood. The greatest misery in my life has been my own people — my brothers and sisters and mother etc. Relatives are like deadly clogs to one's progress, and is it not a wonder that people will still go on to find new ones by marriage!!! ... "

Brother: MAHENDRANATH DATTA (MOHIN)
Swami Vivekananda wrote to to John Fox, Mass., U.S.A. from Paris on 14th August 1900:

"Kindly write Mohin that he has my blessings in whatever he does. ... I am proud of him."

Vivekananda wrote to Mrs. Ole Bull from Daccaon the 20th March 1901, about his younger brother:

"... Mohin [Mahendranath Datta], my brother, is in India, in Karachi near Bombay, and he corresponds with Saradananda. He writes to say he is going to Burma, China, etc. The traders who lure him have shops in all those places. I am not at all anxious about him. He is a very selfish man. ..."

BLOGGER'S VIEW
*Why Swamiji is unable to directly address his letters to his brother?
*Why Swamiji's brother wrote to Saradananda instead of Swamiji?
*Can a monk write with raagam and dveesham (love and hate)?
*Should Swamiji tom tom his problems with his brother, to foreigners?

To continue with more proof.

dear, What if u take a piece of total letter and ask stupid question? Who said swamiji should not say what ever he feels about any one? That is what called liberation. They can say any thing about any one what they feel correct. Who said a swamiji or a yogi is out of all raga and dwesha, they conquerd it, so they can use it as a weapon to demolish the animal instinct in a stupid man.

Reply to Shri KK: Sir: In Hinduism, those who take formal high-profile Sanyas (monkhood and renunciation) perform a sacrifice called "viraja hOma". Vivekananda and his 11 brother-apostles i.e. disciples of Shri RKP were said to have performed the viraja hOma. The essence of viraja hOma, according to some scriptures is 1. performing one's own mock funeral rites 2. break all attachments and relationships (attachments of blood and karma). A person performing viraja hOma, if he is a true monk, should never think of his relatives whether on parental side or on the side of spouse. If our relationships, our love-and-hate relationships are to continue even after wearing ochre robs, and our claiming to be Great Swans (Vivekananda claimed himself to be a paramahamsa a la his Guru Ramakrishna Paramahamsa), everything will become futile and a farce. Instead, it will be a better proposition to renounce monkhood and revert to a householder's life.
