#130 REPLIES TO COMMENTS - MISPLACED GLORY(ies)
I promised to reply on 21.1.2008, Shri Somdatta Bhattacharya. I deferred it to 23rd for two reasons:
RASBIHARI BOSE
1. 21st Jan. was the death Anniversary of Shri Rasbihari Bose, a first row revolutionary, who set an example to Netaji Subas Chandra Bose. I wanted to see how many blogspot writers will write or quote Rasbihari. I am sad to find that only 8 people wrote about Ras Bihari Bose from 2005 to 2008. I thought that at least a hundred people would have written about Ras Bihari Bose. It is futile hope.
I give below some of the URLs which contain interesting discussions:
This is a discussion more about Gandhiji. But there is a mention: "Rasbihari Bose had to flee to Japan".
Shekhargunjal.blogspot.com/2006/10 etc..
The following link refers to Rasbihari Bose, as a part of biography of Netaji, written in 2005. Here, we can find a view that Rasbihari was a protege of Japan.
Joydeepganguly.blogspot.com/2005/10 etc..
(This view may not be fully correct because Rasbihari may be using it as a strategy.)
The following link refers to Rasbihari Bose as a part of the history of the Cellular Jail. Photo might not have been available to the writer. However, there is a photo of Khudiram Bose another front-row revolutionary, apart from Bhagat Singh sitting on Charpoy.
Googlebliss.blogspot.com.
The following URL mentions Rasbihari Bose as a passing reference in the important events of freedom-struggle, of the year 1912.
Generalknowledgequestionsandanswers.blogspot.com etc..
The following URL contains a list of the revolutionaries who fought the Indian freedo-struggle. Rasbihari Bose's name is fortunately included.
REVOLUTIONARYMOVEMENTFORINDIANIND.BLOGSPOT.COM etc. .
NETAJI SUBAS CHANDRA BOSE
2. 23rd Jan. is the birth day of Shri Netaji Subas Chandra Bose, a first row revolutionary. Here Blogspot Writers are more generous: 616 scribes wrote/quote about Subas Chandra Bose, and 1,124 scribes wrote/quoted Subhas. Total 1,740.
DOMINANCE OF VIVEKANANDA ON THE BLOGSPOT AND THE INTERNET IN GENERAL
3. Total 10,126 scribes at Blogspot wrote/quoted Vivekananda in these three years. During Jan. 2008 itself 1,524 people wrote/quoted Vivekananda. In the entire internet 20,100 wrote/quoted Subas chandra Bose. 29,200 wrote/quoted Subhas; total: 49,300.
At the total internet level, a Google search yields 762,000 results about Vivekananda.
KHUDIRAM BOSE and PRAFULLA CHAKI
GOOGLE SEARCH
Out of curiosity, I searched for Khudiram Bose. Google Search yielded 6,060 results. Prafulla Chaki got 2,360 writes/quotes.
BLOGSPOT SEARCH
At Blogspot Khudiram Bose got 99 writes/quotes. Prafulla Chaki got 27.
MAHATMA GANDHI
Google search gave 4,570,000 for writes/quotes for Mahatma Gandhi and 284000 for Gandhiji. I have not used the word Gandhi because it will include Sonia Gandhi and the search will mislead.
AISHWARYA ROY
Google search gave 1,450,000 writes/quotes for "Aish" the nickname of Aishwarya Roy.
It will be clear with whom we are enamoured. I shall not use the phrase "we are mad about".
SUMMARY OF ABOVE DISCUSSION:
There is no relationship between a person's actual contribution to the Nation and the glory heshe gets. The glory is a function of hundreds of factors just as Bharat Ratna is.
Where is the uplifter of the Nation or the weight-lifter? Who is heshe?
